Sundays

On most Sundays, I will likely not write anything to deep. Like other blogs I have seen by persons writing a daily devotional, they use it as a day to reflect on the past week. So, here I will ask that if you are reading this blog to just spend some quiet time today and reflect on your past week. If you are hurting or need prayer, take those needs before the Father. Rest today, and be blessed as you have your quiet time before going to church to worship God.

If for some reason you don't make it to church today, don't be too hard on yourself. Some weeks are like that. I find it not a good habit to miss too much, because you miss out on fellowship with other brother and sisters in Christ, and sometimes you might have needed to hear something you normally won't hear any place else. Above all, God doesn't require you to punch a time card to be at church, but know that it is a place you can find great healing and encouragement, hear the Word of God taught, and know that you are loved.

I know this blog will show this entry as early Monday morning, but my mind is still on Sunday. When I was at church today, I was glad to be there. Much of what my pastor taught only confirmed what I had been praying about this week. One of my prayers, being candid here, was about 'going through the motions.' My desire has been to lead a life of genuineness and sincerity in my faith, to be real with others. I know that the Holy Spirit was working today because of that point and other points. I don't want to write too many details as much of it is personal, but I did need prayer, and met with two of my deacons for prayer after service. It was a time of confession, blessing, forgiveness, prayer, and a new understanding of God's great love in my heart.
Today was a day of examining my heart and seeing where I am at, and knowing that God is greatly at work. If you are hurting, you must realize that you are never alone. God is with you. He will pick you up and hold you close to him. You are His child, and He loves you. Take your burdens and your needs and anxieties and give them to Jesus. He is your peace, and He cares for you.
My prayer for this coming week: Jesus, I just want to lift up this week to you so that you will be glorified in every good work. Please let your will be done in my life and help me to be diligent in the things that need taking care of  and looked after. Please be with those who are hurting and comfort them. Help those who are ill to get well soon, and those I know who are yet to receive you learn to recognize your love. Please help me to continue to learn in Your grace and mercy. Blessed be the name of the Lord. -Amen.
